What is 'Fig'?
'Fig' is a short drama film written by Alex George Pickering and directed by Ryan Coogler. It was produced at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts while Alex and Ryan were attending as M.F.A. students. The film debut at the historic Norris Theatre in 2010 and went on to win the HBO Short Film Competition at the American Black Film Festival, the DGA Student Film Award, and was nominated for Outstanding Independent Short Film at the Black Reel Awards. It went on to receive a broadcast deal from HBO, airing from 2012 to 2015 on HBO programming.
